Liverpool Nautical Research Society

The Liverpool Nautical Research Society was founded in 1938 to promote an interest in Maritime History and maintains a close link with the Mersyside Maritime Museum. Active members of the Society produce papers, articles and books and assistance, within the Society`s objectives and remit, is readily provided to private researchers and to public institutions.

The Society performs a worthwhile task in recording the interesting historical aspects of Merseyside shipping.

The Maritime Records Centre includes a large Maritime Reference Library and multimedia collections of archives. These include manuscripts, plans and drawings, photographs, ephemera, tapes, films and videos.

The resources cover general maritime history but with a natural priority towards merchant shipping, particularly that involving the Port of Liverpool.
